Marlie went to a birthday party for her friend Ava this morning at the Groovy Pad (http://www.thegroovypad.com). They had a fabulous princess tea party and all got to dress up, have their hair done, nails painted, and a put on a little make up.
Samantha hung out on the front of me in her carrier, but definitely got worn out by all of the fun and excitement at her very first party!
As we were walking to the car Marlie said to me "I had a lot of fun at the birthday party" - I wanted to cry. She was so polite through the whole thing - from eating her cupcake very daintily, to saying please and thank you, to being one of the only kids that sat and watched the birthday girl open up ALL of her presents. And she was soooo excited to open her treat bag and find her favorite candy - PEZ - and she very sweetly said "Ava gave these presents to me, can I have 1 treat?".
I was extremely proud of my daughter this morning. It reminded me that while she doesn't always jump in head first like the rest of the kids and run around and play (that will be Samantha), it doesn't mean that she's not having a good time - she just does thing in a more quiet and organized manner :)
And once we got home, there were not even any meltdowns, she ate another treat and went straight upstairs for a nap (after placing a call to Grandma to tell her about her fun times).
It is days like today that erase all of the meltdown, temper tantrum days . . .
