FLU Season!

Did you know that if you walk into a doctor's office right now and mention that you think you might have the flu, that this is the result!??!?! I mean, I guess I get it - if the masks actually work, then it makes sense . . . but part of my problem was that the damn waiting room was empty!!!!!

Anyway - status in the Crandall house:

Mom - flu test positive on Tuesday night - 2 doses of Tamiflu in, feeling a million times better (can I just say that last night before meds was worse than 32 hours of labor on the body pain scale!!!)
Dad - just fine . . . only 1 parent is allowed sickness at a time
Marlie - had a flu shot about a month ago and is just had a mild cold, but totally on the upswing
Sammie - oh, our little baby . . . been trying to get a flu shot for over a month with no success - NO ONE has doses for infants right now . . .as soon as I found out I was positive last night, the pediatrician got a call this morning. Picked up meds to start dosing Tamiflu (side note: pharmacist was confused by doc's writing of the script calling it in, so she asked if it was preventitive or treatment - the answer to this question is always treatment!!!) - by the time we got home guess who started body coughing and spiked a 103.8 fever . . . see, in a few hours it went from preventitive to treatment!

Tamiflu is a wonderful drug - a wonderful and very expensive drug when you have an HDHP plan. The poor pharmacist asked last night if I understood my copay and what the drug would do for me - my answer in a near-death state - "I understand what the drug will do, it's not a cure, but it will help - and I get my copay, unfortunately, I am the one that designed and programmed the benefit that just gave me that ridiculous copay!!!!!"

The bright side - there are 2 healthy people in the house right now, we're getting it out of the way before the holidays, at least I got it this year as opposed to the year I was pregnant with Sam when Jayson and Marlie had issues, and the best - it was 70 degrees today so we could open up all the windows as we sanitized everything and pushed the germs outside :)
