Last Day of School - 2020

This school year definitely did not end like anyone thought it would. The kids had some milestone moments that were missed . . . but nothing like any high school senior . . . they wrapped up their year with their Dad as their teacher and still received awards from their regular teachers.

Big H finished kindergarten . . . he learned to read, write, and is on his way to figuring out he’s not the center of attention outside our 4 walls . . .
Evan finished 3rd grade . . . and was reading a 6th grade series of books by the end . . . as well as excelling in math . . . he will be just fine when he starts getting grades next year . . .
Sammie finished 6th grade . . . and in our district, that means she’s leaving elementary school now and heading to the jr high for 2 years . . . she rocked it out and finished with All A Honor Roll and the Presidential Silver Award for her grades . . . as well as trophies for excelling and completing 3 years of playing the baritone . . .
Marlie definitely left jr high with a bang . . . In a normal year, there would be an 8th grade awards ceremony . . . honor roll students are recognized, and about 20 awards are given out by teachers. Each teacher picks 2 students - one for an academic merit and one for a citizenship award. They gave those out virtually this year, after the principal sent out an email explaining that very few people would get awards and for students not to get disappointed . . . the proud tears came when our daughter took 3 of the 20 awards - she was given 2 academic merits and 1 citizenship.

We now officially have a 1st grader, 4th grader, 7th grader, and a high school freshman!!
