Happy 1st Birthday Samantha!!!

1 year ago today the crazy free spirit that is Samantha Michelle graced us with her presence.

It was a hilarious day that day with non-stop funny events up until the not so funny decision to head into the hospital. After going through 6 days with at least 5 hours each day of false labor (contractions 3-4 minutes apart), it was time to put an end to it all.

At 4:32pm on Sunday, June 22nd I woke up and saw Sammie's pretty face and was asked by Jayson "What are we going to name her" - of course, my reply was "Another girl??" I was certain that Marlie was a boy . . . and when she wasn't and this pregnancy was the exact opposite, I knew that meant it had to be a boy!! I won't even guess for #3 and 4, I will just assume that it's a girl and unpack all of the pink!

Anyway - I looked at her and told Jayson Samantha or Abigail - the choice is obvious . . . and I'm glad, because she is very much a Sam, and definitely not an Abby! And of course, her middle name was mine before I got married and swapped it out for my maiden name. Marlie Katherine has a very special name with a lot of meaning, so we wanted to make sure that some part of Sam's name had a story as well . . . so she got Michelle.

So at the end of her 1st year, Samantha is still showing on a daily basis how very different she is from her big sis. Not to be seen as only a little sister, she exerts her independence on a daily basis. Her wild spirit and crazy, happy disposition are going to prove interesting as we enter this next, more mobile, year of life.
