A Not So Wordless Wednesday

The Girls' Room

Daddy has limited Marlie to only 4 "guys" in her bed at a time since falling out due to no room left on the bed for herself! And of course, about 6 blankets!

Enjoying Sam's new freedom

There are so many milestones that I look at as Samantha hits them and I remember doing them the first time around. It just seems like these "big girl" milestones are hitting me harder reminding me that she's not a baby.

So today, I'm not really sure why, but we took the front off Samantha's crib and made it a toddler bed. Her favorite word is "self" and she seems to be longing for that independence . . . so it just felt like the time!

Marlie was 20 months old when we kicked her out of the crib and straight to a twin . . . because Samantha was coming. She did great for a solid month - then we had 2 straight months of sleeping on the floor and a baby gate on the door - and the very night before she turned 2 she just got back up into the bed. And just as suddenly as that switch happened she declared that she no longer needed a bedrail on her bed.

So here is Samantha - 22 months old - and we just decided it was time. I lagged on the pacifier until she was 18months old, and saw the tortures that it brought - so I figured best not to get to far behind and have her attached to that silly crib. Now, we did go with just making the crib a toddler bed as opposed to pulling out her matching twin bed. She's a little more wild, it makes sense, I don't want to have to sand and paint the other bed to match, storage for the crib - several practical reasons :)

So we snapped some pics as they enjoyed the changeover this morning . . . it is naptime now, so we will see how this works out . . . .
