And Here Go the Two's!

2 Months Old - She found the mirror on the swing

She has always been full of smiles - 9 months

16 months - do you see the free spirit coming out?! Do you see her ready to smash Grandma's candle plates?!?! hehe

Happy #2!! Oh she loves her new car . . .

Happy Birthday to our spirited bundle of joy - Samantha Michelle. Today she turns 2 years old.

I should've had an indication by Samantha's movement through my pregnancy that she would be full of energy and enthusiasm!! And the day of her birth was a a riot of laughs leading up to the departure for the hospital (after we got to the hospital it was not so funny - you know, having a natural c-section with no epidural, not the coolest!).

Sammie started out as a calm baby and had all indications that she would be the breeze that her older sister was. But around 4 months is when we started to see that she was indeed not her sister - in looks and personality. Samantha started cereal at 4 months old - and though she clearly wanted more food, she wanted to hold the spoon herself - not possible given her current motor skills. We did the baby food thing here and there, but Sam more or less decided she was ready for table food around 6 months - no worries that she didn't have any teeth!

Then of course there have been Samantha's 2 trips to Children's Hospital - she came out fine and healthy from both - but she needed some excitement. And even though she occasionally likes to play by herself - she can't really be trusted unless someone is watching her. Just in the past few months she has ripped off her diaper and walked in poop all around the living room, got her fingerpaints and used the carpet as a canvas, chewed the top off of several markers (apparently the Crayola Color Wonder markers are easily chewable - and I mean the actual marker part!!), smeared cupcake and icing through her hair and rubbed it over her ENTIRE body, dumps buckets of water on herself on a daily basis during water play . . . . . and my personal favorite that occurred yesterday . . . squirting the bottle of sunscreen over her entire body while waiting in line at the store!

She is an explorer . . . she likes to learn by doing . . . this proves to be a learning experience for both of us!!! But she is a sweet and gentle girl too . . . your heart would melt if you heard her say "kiss and hug Momma" before I leave the house. Or when she knows she has stepped over the line with her sister and she says "sorry Sissy, hug please". She also has a great sense of control like her sister (and maybe Mom) - she will do things her way, in her time, and on her schedule. And someday she will her have her own set of knowledge to impart on a younger sibling, and she will be a great big sister - because she loves to show you everything she knows!!

We love you Sammie - you are the crazy free spirit that keeps our world full of smiles!!! Happy #2!!!!!

Yep - the doc who did the spinal didn't get it in - but when I yelled and told them I felt it all, they didn't so much believe me . . . and when they finally did, they had Sam almost all the way out and they just put me out and kicked Jayson out of the room! So I woke up with no pain meds too - I was up taking a shower and getting my own drinks less than 8 hrs after my c-section - there was no numbness at all :) It was AWESOME!! hahaha
