The Memphis Zoo . . . and Our Best Friends

Our Families

Feeding the Parakeets in the Bird House

Marlie Katherine and Grace Ann - BFF

The best kids EVER - Grace, Marlie, and John Thomas (Sam was telling the gorilla to wake up!)

On Sunday morning we got up bright and early and hit the road to head to Memphis! Our best friends the Holloways have been in Little Rock, Arkansas for a few weeks (eventually probably moving there). When you live over 1000 miles from your best friends, if they are only 6 hrs away, it's time for a road trip! So we met kinda halfway in Memphis - and thought it would be a great idea to go to the zoo so the kids could hang out for the day.

Well . . . it was HOT! And I don't think that words describe the heat we endured for over 4 hours yesterday. It was 97 degrees with 85% humidity - that creates a 108 heat index . . . again, IT WAS HOT!!!!! But we randomly ran through water fountains, hit a few exhibits with air conditioning, we all looked horrible and were covered in sweat . . . and it was GREAT! Besides the Memphis Zoo being one of the top zoos in the country, we spent the day with people that are just like our family.

Between our families, we have 4 kiddos - and 3 of them have June birthdays! So we had dinner and the kids got to exchange presents as well.

And somehow, after a 200 mile drive, no nap, and a full day of running outside, it still took another 2 hours of driving before the kids finally fell asleep!!! And they still woke up on time!!!! Oh to have that energy . . .
