And That Would Be 4

Wednesday night we made our 4th ER trip since having children. Unfortunately, Samantha woke up around 10pm and couldn't breathe very well. Then a few minutes passed and she couldn't catch her breath and was having serious issues . . . so up I jumped and off we went to the ER (Daddy stayed home with the other 2). For the 1st time ever we had to wait in an ER waiting room . . . and only because there were 40 people that walked in within the hour for a 25 room ER!

After 1.5 hrs we got a room and after taking 1 look at Sam, the respiratory department was down in under 5 minutes. She had 3 back to back breathing treatments to get her airways opened up. We hung out for a bit to rule out any pneumonia with an xray, and then after 4 hours headed home to grab 2 full hours of sleep! ha!

She is feeling much better with the help of steroids and a few breathing treatments - let me tell you, you haven't lived until you've tried to give albuterol through a nebulizer - WORST THING EVER, regardless of the kid! Can you blame them? Do you really want shit blowing in your face at close range?!

So 4 ER trips in 5 years of parenting - not horrible. Samantha has been 3 of the 4 - so her stats aren't that great! ha! She's been once a year from 09-11 :) And of course, Marlie's was just 3 months ago for her broken arm and then surgery . . . which we had to drive down to Nashville yesterday for her final xray - and it's healed just fine.

In the end . . . there have been sleepless evenings at the hospital, enormous bills, and some worry . . . but we have 3 happy healthy kiddos . . .

I'm so glad Sam is okay! That sounded scary! So is it asthma? You are so chill about all of this, I totally admire you! Can I call you in March for a chill out moment when I'm pulling my hair out?

Man oh man, sorry to hear. One of my colleagues had to take her son (I think he's the same age as Sam) to the ER this week for the same thing.

So glad everything turned out ok! Knock on wood, we have not had to go to the ER yet.

So what kind or wrap do you use?
