Picture Day

Friday was Marlie's first school picture day!! I totally went old school with the outfit - a longer plaid dress with a peter pan collar and smocking, white ruffle socks, and brown mary janes! I was fortunate that when I showed her the dress, she loved it. I know my days of picking out outfits are numbered . . . so I have to go extreme when I get the opportunity! So have to find my kindergarten pics!!
Someone else wanted her picture taken . . .
And then they agreed to one together!
So let's talk about Marlie Katherine and school for a moment. We had a her 1st parent teacher conference the other night at school. At the beginning of the year they test each child to see where they are at - at the end of the year, they test them again. The expected score at the start of the year is 40-50% - the goal at the end is 90%. So naturally . . . Marlie scored a 90% at the beginning :)
After fall break she will be tested again, and at the teacher's recommendation she will be placed into an accelerated path for reading and learning and she will work with her individually to make sure she doesn't get bored. Proud much?!?! When I walked in the teacher looked at Sam and Evan and said "So are those two as gifted as little Miss Intelligence over there?" I laughed and said "probably" :) Truth is - I looked at the test they gave, and if the average at the start of the year is a 40-50%, Sam could go ahead and start kindergarten next week! It is my hope that the accelerated path will keep Marlie challenged. With a June birthday, she's already one of the youngest in the class, so we would prefer to not do the grade skipping thing and just keep her on the accelerated path in her own grade - but we're learning as we go with all of this, so we will just see what happens! But like I said, we're kinda proud of fabulous little Marlie Katherine :)

Go Marlie!! What did you do to prepare your little ones? I do believe part of this is genetic, you were always one of the smartest in every class we had. Still, any secrets would be great! I'm eating my DHA! LOL
