Jayson had Saturday off this weekend - a nice treat since Marlie is in school now! So we started the day out by heading over to Dunbar Cave for a family photo shoot with our awesome photographer/friend Jewel! After the pics we walked back to the cave to watch the interactive play put on by the Children's Theater. Then it was a quick stop home to drop off the boys as us girls headed to a birthday party at the bowling alley!
Suffice it to say, since naptime was skipped, I was a little worn out . . .so Daddy made french toast and sausage for dinner . . . of course both girls LOVED it and have requested it for dinner for forever! UGH! After everyone was in bed, we headed out to the deck to enjoy the nice 68 degree evening, some adult conversation, and a few adult beverages!
Somewhere in the middle of the night I woke up and could not fall back asleep . . . I totally blamed Jayson's snoring! ha! Then when the kids started to get up I was having severe lower back pain - which I never have. I thought maybe it was from tossing and turning . . . so we headed out to breakfast at our favorite local place (seriously $6.99 buffet, eggs cooked to order, and kids eat free! FABULOUS).
By the time we got home I was feeling very achey all over, not just my back . . . I began wondering if maybe I had just had too many of the aformentioned adult beverages?!? Alas, I looked at Jay and said - "I have a bad feeling that this is going to be strep" Within an hour, it hit full force, right along with a 101.9 fever . . . so off I went to Urgent Care once they opened.
We were supposed to go to the museum with our friends the Wengers, but when I sent Bethany a text to cancel, she offered to come get the girls and take them to the museum, out to dinner, and then bring home food for me . . . folks, you cannot make up goodness like that!! The funniest thing about Bethany is she reminds me sooooo much of my friend Tee in Minnesota (before bulimia overtook her life) - right down to the mannerisms and black glasses . . . I love this chic!
I just put Evan down and got a text from Bethany that she is patiently waiting at McDonalds for them to clean the @#%$@#$@#$ smoothie machine so she can bring me one . . . To say that I am fortunate to have a friend like her, with a daughter who my daughters adore, is nowhere near an accurate description.
And I will end with my open letter to the illness "strep throat":
Dear Strep Throat,
You are truly a piece of shit illness!! Every time you come, I spike a fever, sweat, and get the chills. I can't swallow . . . and you basically destroy my life for 3 days! I want you to know that while I do appreciate that you have avoided me through 2 pregnancies when everyone else was getting you, 5 times in 15 months is a bit excessive, don't ya think?!?!?
It is because of this frequency that I am seriously contemplating losing the organs you infect, i.e. my tonsils . . . so jokes on you! ha! I will kick your ass this time though - a penicillin shot, an antibiotic, and some pain meds are going to help me!
But I must say, if I were you, I would keep this beef between you and me . . . . because if you touch one of my children, I will Lysol your ass out of existence!
Jennifer
Irrational - yes. Childish - absolutely. Made me feel a little better about this stupidly horrible situation and how I feel - definitely!
And now I have to lay down . . . 102.9 fever . . . I am dying . . .
