The Holiday Fun has Begun

This is why I like to finish my holiday shopping early . . . because it seems like the month of December is always filled with so many fun activities, and I don't want to be stressing out about gift giving when there is fun to be had!

We started out the awesomeness on Thursday! Miss Jane was in Nashville and decided to drive up and spend the day with us! We went to the new Clarksville play place, Kids N Play. I was drastically unimpressed . . . but Sammie had a blast with Jane!
And after some playtime we headed out for lunch and then home to hang out and watch The Grinch!
On Friday we had our MOMS Club Holiday party. We ate, did a mommy gift exchange, and collected items for Urban Ministries. Samantha had a fun time playing and running around with all of her friends!
Next up, we started out our Saturday morning with a pancake breakfast with Santa at Marlie's school!
After eating their pancakes and sausage, the girls did some crafts - made a picture frame, decorated cookies, and even made reindeer food. I told them I was so excited they had gotten that done so we could cross it off our list. If you're wondering, reindeer food was rolled oats sprinkled with glitter . . . that way there is food outside for the reindeer while Santa has his cookies inside - and the glitter helps it shine in the moonlight so they can find it easier :) Marlie sat on Santa's lap . . . Samantha was a no go for the 1st attempt this year . . . but something tells me that she'll be good the next time we see the Man out and about . . . she was not pleased with the fact that Marlie received a candy cane and she had missed an opportunity for sugar!
Of course, it was the first Saturday of the month, so off to Home Depot we went. I have to say - BEST project EVER. They made snowman napkin holders and painted them!
They even brought out Homer the Home Depot guy! Sam went running for him . . . we've never seen him before - I have to wonder if she thought he was handing out candy canes too?!
Then it was off to take care of some holiday business! We went and picked out our Christmas tree, brought it home, and did some decorating! This year was Samantha's turn to do the star at the top!
There was some brief naptime . . . and then while the boys stayed home and watched some football, us girls did a quick run to the mall to see Ladybug Girl. The girls love her books . . . and naturally asked where Bumblebee Boy was . . . she motioned that he was napping.
And after a few days like we've had . . . it was time to crash after dinner . . . but not before one of our little holiday traditions we are starting. For the last 2 years we've read stories by the little tree the girls have in their room. This year I decided we would add one of their favorite things to their story time . . . hot chocolate. So a few times a week we will make our hot chocolate, add our marshmallows, and will sit by our big tree downstairs and read some of our Christmas books!
If you look closely, you can see that even Sota likes to lay by the Christmas tree to hear stories :)
